RESURRECTION OF THE GULF
LOCATED ON THE GROUNDS OF PIRATE ISLAND DAIQUIRI ON LA. HWY. 1
REMEMBRANCE * RESPECT * RESTORATION
ON APRIL 20th, 2011, WE MEMORIALIZED THE ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE DAY THAT CHANGED THE GULF FOREVER, THE DAY THE DEEPWATER HORIZON RIG EXPLODED--THE DAY 11 MEN LOST THEIR LIVES AND "THE DAY THE GULF DIED."
THREE DAYS LATER, ON APRIL 23rd 2011, WE PROCLAIM THE "RESURRECTION OF THE GULF," WITH A DAY OF FAMILY FRIENDLY FUN, MUSIC, FOOD, INFO, AND ACTION!...
JOIN US AS WE BUILD COMMUNITY AND LEARN TO LEAN TOGETHER TO MAKE OUR FUTURE A CLEANER AND MORE JUST PLACE FOR OURSELVES AND OUR CHILDREN.
• Music
• Easter Tarball Hunt (Beach Cleanups)
• Chili Dogs, White beans and rice will be served. Vegetarian selections will also be available. Refreshments available throughout the day. Please consider donating at the serving tables.
• Children’s Bounce House (ages 10 and under)
• Bake Sale, Book Sale, “Repurposed Treasures” Yard Sale – all proceeds to help Island residents in need.
• Food/care package drive to benefit the citizens of Grand Isle, La.
Items needed: canned foods, boxed foods, childrens Tylenol, Motrin, cold medicines, toothpaste, razors, soap, gift cards, gas cards, toilet paper, paper towels, feminine care items, wound dressings, etc.
• “Planting Hope” - Native Vegetation and Tree Donation Drive
2:00 pm
• Mini-Press Conference – Grand Isle residents will address elected officials, the media, and the nation by presenting four pressing questions about the health, environmental, and economic impacts of the spill, and the restoration process.
• Information & Resource Fair – Various organizations will present information on the ongoing health and environmental impacts of the disaster, provide health and wellness education, promote local community groups, and build strategies to ensure that the restoration process is completed and this tragedy never happens again.

Donations of food, household goods, over the counter meds, toys, money, time, effort, talent and prayer is requested but not required. All donations will remain on the island and benefit Coastal Heritage Society of Louisiana's humanitarian efforts in Grand Isle.
